American Cancer Society Hope Lodge to Receive $100,000 Thanks to Drew Brees and Pepsi Refresh Project
Statement of John R. Seffrin, PhD, Chief Executive Officer, American Cancer Society
ATLANTA 2010/02/05 -"Today, Pepsi announced that Drew Brees and the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge won a $100,000 project grant as part of the Pepsi Refresh Project. The money will go towards improving the living facilities of the Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge in New Orleans, which provides cancer patients and their caregivers with a free place to stay while they are receiving treatment away from home. There are currently 29 Hope Lodge facilities throughout the country.

“We are so appreciative of Mr. Brees and all his fans who voted to support the Hope Lodge. This is a wonderful demonstration of communities rallying together to help people get well from cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society in our efforts to save lives and create a world with more birthdays.”

For more information on the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, please visit www.cancer.org/hopelodge or call 1-800-227-2345.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end cancer for good. As a global grassroots force of three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping you stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early, helping you get well by being there for you during and after a diagnosis, by finding cures through groundbreaking discovery and fighting back through public policy. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing about $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
